• Chelsea Boosted in Chase for Bayern Munich Defender With Real Madrid Not Interested in Move

    News Fri 16 Jun 2017

Jerome Boateng is said to be keen on forcing through a move to Real Madrid this summer, however, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is not interested in the German international.

It is said that if he were to make a move for one of Die Roten’s defenders, he would choose David Alaba, but the Austrian full-back is unavailable.

Boateng is now tapped in transfer limbo, with Don Balon reporting that the towering centre-back is desperate for a new challenge after winning every major honour with Bayern Munich.

This scenario could play out well for Chelsea who did enquire about his availability last month, according to the Daily Mail.

It is a known fact that Antonio Conte is keen on adding a new star centre-back to his roster after John Terry’s departure, with Leonardo Bonucci regularly linked with Stamford Bridge.

From the perspective of Boateng, it could be a perfect opportunity to repair his reputation on English soil after a dismal spell with Manchester City prior to his move to Bayern for £11m in 2011, making just 16 Premier League appearances in total.

Chelsea would represent the ideal move for him on paper, a new set of honours to fight for and, of course, a spot in the Champions League next year with one of Europe’s finest teams.

If he were to make the move, Gary Cahill would be the most prominent candidate to be displaced by the Bayern man.

The England international enjoyed a good season but the general consensus from Blues fans is that David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta are of far higher importance in Chelsea’s three-man defence.
