Following a long season in which Chelsea finished the campaign with a convincing Premier League title victory and narrowly missing out on the FA cup, you would think the players would be excused the odd poor showing.
But that did not stop one fan from laying it thick into Gary Cahill after he was schooled in the recent England friendly with France. As reported by Goal, fans can be tough on any performance, particularly when the national team played so badly against a team with ten men for half of the game.
The Chelsea centre half captained his club side to a league title, but could not prevent Twitter from chastising his display.
Cahill at one point in the game was isolated by Manchester United star Paul Pogba and the French midfielder sent Twitter into a meltdown with a lightning quick dribble and turn to lose his marker.
And one fan ensured he remembered his torrid time with a reply to his tweet.
The England international then reminded all that questioned his performance that he had done the business when it mattered, lifting the Premier League at the expense of Paul Pogba’s Manchester United side, who finished in 6th place.
Ye that end of season friendly .

With the season drawing to a close, you can’t blame Cahill for defending himself as a player after a long and arduous season.
The players should be expected to take a holiday and relax following a gruelling and challenging campaign, but instead they have to take part in a generally unwanted friendly by both sets of players.
The Blues captain clearly had the last laugh despite the friendly defeat as he reflected on a highly successful campaign.
In essence his retaliation to take the bait from a fan showed his passion for winning at all costs for club and country, with the kind of winning mentality needed for when/if England battle for a long overdue World Cup success in Russia next year.
