• Tammy Abraham Admits Future Is Unclear as Newcastle & Brighton Battle Over Highly-Rated Striker

    News Mon 12 Jun 2017

Highly-rated Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham has admitted his immediate future is unknown amid Premier League interest, after impressing while on loan at Bristol City last season.

The Bristol Post reports that Abraham is undecided about his club future and that two of the Premier League’s newest members, Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion are the front-runners to sign the 19-year old.

Abraham said: “I’m not sure what I’m doing next season, if I’m coming back, going elsewhere on loan or staying at Chelsea.”

Only Chris Wood at Leeds scored more league goals than Abraham in 2016/17, his final total of 23 goals went a long way to securing Bristol City’s Championship status and the youngster admitted that his time at Ashton Gate was a valuable learning experience.

“When I first came to Bristol City, knowing it was Championship football, playing against experienced men, I knew it would be tough. I had to adapt some parts of my game. I feel like I’ve learnt so much,” he said.

“You see how much winning and losing games matters. The club has given me my first chance to express myself and show what I can do. For a team to have that belief in me is amazing.”

Abraham’s successful season at club level has earned up an international call up and he will feature in England’s squad for the U21 European Championship in Poland. England kick off the tournament with a fixture against Sweden on Friday.

Abraham’s future at club level remains unclear, Bristol City are desperate to keep hold but they have admitted that this a long shot.

It seems unlikely that Chelsea will give Abraham the first-team football so the battle between Newcastle and Brighton for his services could run right through the summer.
