New Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has revealed he has an interest in signing Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
Nainggolan has been the subject of transfer speculation over the past few seasons, with Chelsea known to be interested in the Belgium international, after he revealed the Premier League side’s former transfer pursuit of him.
Manchester United, who are expected to spend heavily this summer ahead of their respective Champions League and Premier League campaigns next season, are also rumoured to be interested in the former Cagliari man.
Spalletti has confirmed he will take charge of Inter next season, despite no official announcement being made, and is expected to be backed in the transfer market this summer as the Serie A club look to return to the top of Italian football.
When asked about potentially signing Nainggolan, Spalletti told Telelombardia, as quoted by talkSPORT: “I’ll think about it.”
Nainggolan was pivotal in Roma’s successful 2016-17 season during which the club finished second, runners-up to Juventus with a four point gap, with the 29-year-old scoring 11 goals and adding five assists in 37 league appearances.
Inter currently have the likes of Ever Banega, Marcelo Brozovic, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Gary Medel available in midfield with the club will be looking to strengthen in central areas after a poor league campaign, finishing seventh and failing to qualify for European football.
Chelsea will look to strengthen after winning the Premier League, with Nemanja Matic linked with a Stamford Bridge exit, while Manchester United could add to their midfield roster of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and others.
