UNITED TO OFFER £60M FOR MORATA
We heard on Wednesday that Real Madrid want £78m for Alvaro Morata after turning down £52m from Manchester United, but the latest claim from the Daily Mirror is that Jose Mourinho will go no higher than £60m for the Spanish striker who scored for his country on Wednesday night.
The deal has potentially become less complicated because Madrid have reportedly given up on their pursuit of David De Gea, so it becomes a straight deal for Morata. Is £60m enough for their back-up striker?
United’s other target Andrea Belotti is – according to Corriere Dello Sport, at least – bound for AC Milan.
Obviously, we just want to ask once again: Why not just go big and brash for Harry Kane?
CHELSEA FANCY MAHREZ
We already know that Arsenal want Riyad Mahrez, but the Daily Telegraph now claim that Chelsea have been alerted by the Algerian’s insistence that he wants to leave this summer. They are looking for greater cover for Eden Hazard and Mahrez certainly fits the bill, though not at the £50m being quoted by Leicester.
The same report claims that Juventus left-back/wing-back Alex Sandro is also a target, though the Italian club want £45m. We already know that Romelu Lukaku is also likely to re-join this summer, and that Diego Costa has been told he can do one.
MBAPPE TO STAY AT MONACO
Monaco will offer Kylian Mbappe a new contract in an attempt to hold onto him for one more season despite interest from Real Madrid, Arsenal and pretty much every other club in Europe. They know that Mbappe’s worth is only likely to increase, while the French teenager is in no rush to sit on a bench elsewhere.
The Independent suggest that Mbappe could fetch upwards of £200m after the World Cup next summer, if he has another stellar season for Monaco and makes an impact for France.
