Chelsea target Jann-Fiete Arp looks set to sign a new contract at current club Hamburg.
The 17-year-old emerged as a potential transfer target this season, after enjoying one of the best striking records among Europe this season.
The Hamburger SV starlet has run riot in the German youth leagues and attracted the attention of the world’s biggest football clubs, but now appears certain to remain at the Volksparkstadion for another campaign.
Jann-Fiete Arp is a name that will unsurprisingly be unfamiliar with most football fans. The young striker has been with Bundesliga side Hamburg and their youth academy since 2010 after joining from the SV Wahlstedt youth teams at the age of 10.
Chelsea had been watching the talented forward for over six months. However, Hamburg will offer Jann-Fiete Arp a new contract after impressing first team coach Markus Gisdol, according to the Mirror.
The young forward became the first ever player to score two hat-tricks at a UEFA tournament at the U17 level earlier this year. Jann-Fiete Arp scored a treble in his sides 5-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in the UEFA European U17 Championship, before netting the same amount in Germany’s 7-0 thrashing of the Republic of Ireland.
The striker was taken to the first team training camp in Dubai by Markus Gisdol back in January as a 16-year-old and despite his current deal with Hamburg running out next year, the striker is expected to commit his future to the Bundesliga side.
Chelsea are not the only team monitoring the young striker though, with Bundesliga duo Borussia Dortmund and VfL Wolfsburg also interested in signing the starlet. Dortmund have a recent history of working with young players and under the former Ajax manager Peter Bosz, Dortmund have a man who can work wonders with young players.
