Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a bid for Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, to the tune of £48m plus Serbian midfielder Nemenja Matic.
According to The Sun, the Blues are set to make the swoop for Bonucci, who has recently again fallen foul of Juventus boss Max Allegri following an alleged row after the club’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.
The most recent spat between the pair involved Alegri accusing Bonucci of not following instructions during the pivotal final in Cardiff.
Bonucci’s market values equates to a figure around the £60m mark. However, as Juventus are also keen on Chelsea’s defensive midfielder Matic, the Bianconeri may be willing to accept a lower offer, with the Chelsea man coming the other way as part of the deal.
It is of note that the Juventus manager has recently agreed to a contract extension, and is believed to have also demanded the sale of Bonucci, before it’s too late to cash-in on him, as Allegri looks ahead to managing the club until 2019.
It is also understood that Allegri is a huge fan of Nemenja Matic, and would certainly welcome Bonucci’s sale to Chelsea if it involved Matic becoming a Juve player next season.
If the deal goes ahead as reported, it would see the 30-year-old re-united with his footballing father figure, Antonio Conte, with which he won three Serie A titles. As well as this, Chelsea would possibly be purchasing Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco as a sound replacement, who been alleged to be a target for Chelsea should they want to buy another midfielder.
