Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen will be given the chance to prove himself to manager Antonio Conte on this pre-season’s tour of China, according to the Sun.
The 21-year-old centre-back has spent the last two seasons on loan at Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, but has now been given what could be his final opportunity to impress Conte.
If Christensen performs well in pre-season, Conte could reportedly be spared the need to search for a new defender to replace the departing John Terry.
The Danish international joined the Blues at the age of 16 from Brondby, but has yet to break into the first team.
Christensen is unlikely to be content with a just a place on the Chelsea bench following his return from Gladbach, however, which leaves his future still very much in doubt.
He made 71 appearances for Die Fohlen having joined the club in 2015, and was last season awarded the Player of the Year award.
Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman is also set to return from a loan spell in the Bundesliga with Schalke as he recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury picked up in the African Cup of Nations.
The Ghanaian full-back is likely to complete his recovery at Cobham Training Centre despite interest from Schalke of a loan extension.
