Diego Costa may have given Chelsea fans reason to be happy after kissing the club’s badge during Saturday’s FA Cup final loss against Arsenal, yet it could still be an iffy summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal very soon.
The Spain hitman scored 22 goals for the title-winning Blues this season; but it wasn’t without a bit of the usual controversy, as news of him wanting to move to China and engaging in a bust-up with Antonio Conte attempted to mar the campaign.
Following Saturday’s game, Costa insisted that he was not keen on a move to China, also stating that only the possibility of a return to Atletico Madrid would turn his head.
And responding to questions posed by Het Nieuwsblad, the striker said that he wouldn’t be against playing alongside Romelu Lukaku next season.
Lukaku, who scored an impressive 25 Premier League goals for Everton during the term, has been linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge – but it is understood that Antonio Conte is holding off on making a decision over the Belgian until he wraps up talks with Costa.
Costa, though, has said that he wouldn’t mind working with the 24-year-old, but it’s ultimately the club’s decision.
“I do not know, that’s a decision for the club,” he said after being asked if he could function up top with Lukaku.

“Of course Lukaku is a very big player who has played an impressive season.
“I hope he will ever have the possibility to sign at Chelsea because Chelsea is a unique club.”
Conte is thought to be considering a few other striking options, however; Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata has long been a target for the Italian, while Lazio attacker Keita Bald and Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez are also thought to be on his radar.
