The 2017 edition of the January transfer deadline day looks like it could be an eventful one for Chelsea. There have been strong links with moves away for Branislav Ivanovic and Asmir Begovic could be sold, but Inter Milan winger Jonathan Biabiany has turned the Blues down.
Chelsea are top of the Premier League by eight points over second-placed Arsenal, and could all but wrap up the title race with four points from their next two games against Liverpool and the Gunners. This hasn’t stopped them from searching for new recruitments, though.

The talks were confirmed by Sky Sports and Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Biabiany is a French winger who has not played a single minute for Inter Milan this season, but has enjoyed better success before that at Parma. It is notable that Biabiany can be used as a right wing-back, the position which Victor Moses has excelled in this season.
The player would have been available on a six-month loan, and Antonio Conte is said to be a great admirer of the Frenchman. If the move had gone through, he would likely have only been used as cover for Moses.
Chelsea may only need victory away at Liverpool alongside a point or more at home to Arsenal in order to effectively take the title. The Liverpool match has the feel of the Blues’ earlier tie away at Spurs: lose, and the door could be kicked open again for another club to pounce.
