Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been left ‘frustrated’ after contract talks with Arsenal stalled.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current deal at the Emirates Stadium expires in summer 2018, and the England international is no closer to agreeing new terms.
The club held ‘positive preliminary’ talks according to many sources, but negotiations have since faltered.
Liverpool are monitoring the situation, with Oxlade-Chamberlain also keen to play more in his favoured central-midfield role.
Opportunities would be more frequent there at Anfield than they would at Arsenal, with Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny providing competition in that position. Jack Wilshere and the injured Santi Cazorla are also options.
Chelsea and Manchester City are also reported potential suitors, claim the Daily Mail, but Liverpool are frontrunners in this chase if he does leave Arsenal.
The 23-year-old’s main frustrations stem from the fact that he was promised a quick resolution to his contract situation, but his future remains uncertain a month after the end of the season.
