Andy Hinchcliffe says Chelsea should sign a wing-back

That’s the opinion of Andy Hinchcliffe who thinks the demands the position puts on a player means the Blues need extra depth.

Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso have been superb for Chelsea this season in helping Antonio Conte’s side to the top of the Premier League.

But Hinchcliffe says the Blues need to look ahead to the next two or three years.

He told Sky Sports: “If they’re going to continue play with three at the back and wing-backs it is a very demanding system so I can understand them maybe looking at players for the wing-back areas.

“To ask a player do that for a full season is very tough, to do it season after season is even tougher.

“With Chelsea going well it probably makes sense while the going is good to look at players for the next two to three years down the line and just keep a conveyer belt of good players coming to the club and getting used to Conte’s methods.”

Chelsea return to Premier League action tonight when they travel to Anfield and take on title rivals Liverpool.
