Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will not be leaving the Premier League leaders after a proposed move to Bournemouth fell through.
Begovic has been linked with a move away from the Stamford Bridge club after playing second fiddle to current Blues favourite Thibaut Courtois, and has featured only in cup competitions this season.
The Mirror report Begovic would have been allowed to leave Chelsea if the club could have found a replacement for him but, unfortunately for the Bosnia and Herzegovina stopper, no such replacement has been forthcoming.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen to keep Begovic, having been impressed by his attitude both off and on the pitch, as he rates the former Stoke and Portsmouth goalie highly. Celtic star Craig Gordon had been linked with a move to London but is instead set to sign a new three and a half year deal with the Scottish champions, effectively ending any hope of Begovic leaving the club.
Begovic is said to be happy at Chelsea but is still keen to move away in order to reignite his career, and his hopes of playing regularly could be realised should the potential move be resurrected in the summer.
The 29-year-old has made five appearances for Chelsea this season, in both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, and figured for the team more regularly during his debut season last year, making 25 appearances in all competitions down to Courtois’ injury and form issues.
