The Blues are ready to splash the cash in January.
Antonio Conte has seen his budget swelled by the £60m sale of Oscar to Shanghai SIPG.
And according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Hernandez is a target.
“Chelsea are eyeing ex-Man United man Javier Hernandez – and Bayer Leverkusen are ready to sell”
The Mexican was a crowd favourite at Man United before being bombed out by Louis van Gaal.
Van Gaal loaned the 28-year-old to Real Madrid for a year in 2014 before selling him to Bayer Leverkusen.
Hernandez has been in blistering form ever since for the German club.
It appears Chelsea have taken notice, with his form being monitored by the Premier League leaders.
And according to German newspaper Bild Leverkusen are open to selling Hernandez if the price is right.
It’s reported they’ll sell the striker if they receive an offer in the region of £25m to £35m.
Antonio Conte has just two first-team options for a striking spot at Stamford Bridge.
Diego Costa is the club’s No.1 frontman with Michy Batshuayi in reserve.
But Conte opted not to give the Belgian a chance on Boxing Day when Costa was suspended, instead playing Eden Hazard up top.
