Stoke City manager Mark Hughes intends to go back to the drawing board to formulate a game plan to take on Chelsea on Saturday.

The Potters, who lost 4-1 to Liverpool on Tuesday, will next travel to Stamford Bridge to take on the Premier League leaders, who are on a 12-game winning run.

Following the defeat to the Reds, Hughes said: “You look at the goals on an individual basis and we should have done better.

Glen Johnson should have cleared the ball for the equaliser, clearly Ryan [Shawcross] has made a mistake at the end, take those two out and it is certainly an opportunity missed.

“We will look ahead to Chelsea and formulate something for that and hopefully not make mistakes defensively like we did today and we will give it a go just like we did today.”
