Chelsea have had a bid of £21m for midfielder Frank Kessie rejected by Serie A club Atalanta.
Kessie has been garnering attention from all over Europe this season with his remarkable performances in Italy. And Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City have all shown interest in the player.
The Blues are said to be keen on replacing Oscar, with the Brazilian having completed a move to Chinese club Shanghai SIPG this month.
According to reports, the Premier League leaders tabled a bid for the Ivorian, but it did not match the club’s valuation, which is thought to be around £34m.
The player’s agent, George Atangana, spoke on the matter, telling the Guardian that time will be taken to consider all of the options, saying: “We have a lot of interest from the Premier League – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.
“I cannot say at this stage how much he will cost but we are talking about one of the best young players in the world. But for us the most important thing is that the technical project is the right one for him. Franck is very young so we have to be very careful about his development.
“Chelsea are very interested and it is a great club but we must take our time to consider all the options.
“Now we are in January so he has to play at the African Cup of Nations for Ivory Coast so I am not going to rush anything.”
Atangana will meet with Chelsea’s officials in London next week to further discuss a move, but for now, the club won’t be entertaining anything less than their set amount.
