Chelsea finished the 2015/16 Premier League campaign in 10th place under interim manager Guus Hiddink.
Jose Mourinho was sacked in December of that season after losing nine of the first 16 league games and sitting 16th in the table.
And Wilkins wasn’t happy with his old side.
“I’m a season ticket holder and last season they were abysmal”
Ray Wilkins on Chelsea
“I was extremely annoyed,” he said on talkSPORT.
“I’m a season ticket holder and last season they were abysmal.
“Willian was the only player who turned up.
“A lot of people paid a lot of money and they (the players) just didn’t turn up.”
Chelsea have fared much better this season, sitting seven points clear at the top after winning 12 games in a row.
And Wilkins is much more pleased with what he’s seen.
“Okay they lost at home to Liverpool and lost at Arsenal but they murdered Man United at Stamford Bridge,” he added.
“At the moment Chelsea are in the box-seat.”
Chelsea take on Stoke in their next match this Saturday.
