Ray Parlour says Arsenal must win their next five games to catch Chelsea

Chelsea are nine points clear of Arsenal at the top after winning their last 12 league games.

The Gunners ended a losing streak of two when they won late against West Brom yesterday.

Their next five fixtures look favourable, with Crystal Palace visiting on New Year’s Day, followed by trips to Bournemouth and Swansea.

Burnley and Watford then go to the Emirates before Arsenal go to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in early February.

And Parlour says Arsenal must take 15 points from 15 before taking on Antonio Conte’s men.

“You look at it and everyone looks at the last one, Chelsea away on February 4,” he said on Sky Sports.

“All the other sides will be fighting for their lives at the bottom especially with the first one (against Crystal Palace) with Sam Allardyce coming in.

“He will go to the Emirates to try and make it difficult.

“Bournemouth away you’d expect Arsenal to go there with the quality they’ve got and get a result.

“Swansea away, we know what pressure they’re under at the moment.

“I’m pleased Burnley is at home, because away from home they’ve only picked up one point, so you expect them to beat them and Watford you would expect them to win.

“Looking at that I’m thinking, you’ve got to get 15 points, I would put them down for five wins.

“I know it doesn’t always work out like that. The you can go into the Chelsea game, I don’t know how far behind because I don’t know what Chelsea’s run is like.

“It’s going to be interesting to see. When you look at them they’re all winnable.”
