Former England striker Michael Owen thinks Liverpool will pip current leaders Chelsea to the Premier League title.

The Reds are trailing the Londoners by six points with 17 matches of the season played, while Manchester City and Arsenal are third and fourth respectively.

Owen is backing his former club to make up the six-point gap on the Blues with neither team having to compete in Europe this campaign.

“I think a north west team will win the Premier League this season so that’s Manchester United, Liverpool or Manchester City,” Owen told Sportlobster.

“I’m going to go for Liverpool to win the league.”They are playing really well and have no European football.

“Second, I’m going to go for Chelsea, third Man City and fourth Arsenal.”
