Holland has been confirmed as Southgate’s new assistant, juggling his England role with Chelsea until leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer.
But Blues supporters have expressed their dismay at the decision on fans’ forum theshedend.com.
One wrote: “Hope we draw back all of our fines from the FA in compo.”
Another added: “Aaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhhh! F**king FA.”
A fellow Chelsea fan added: “McLaren and Neville combined manager roles with being England assistant yet Holland cant be Chelsea and England assistant? Logic right there.”
“Seems like a semi retirement job”

Other supporters directed their frustrations at Holland himself.
One posted: “Bah, why is he wasting his time with that shower of sh*te?”
Another said: “Seems like a semi retirement job….work part time, watch a few games, coach a team about 12 times a year.”
A fellow fan wrote: “Maybe he has seen too much going ons and wants out. He never looks happy.
“Maybe his role at CFC has been lowered. Anyway best of luck to him in his part time role.”
Southgate yesterday backed his new assistant to help create a “world-class” England team.
“I am delighted to have Steve as my assistant manager,” said Southgate.
“We have worked very closely for three years and I have the utmost respect for the way he works, his professionalism and the detail of his preparation.
“Our aim at the start was to encourage a young England team to play in a certain style and to develop a winning mentality; I think we certainly got a long way down the road to doing that with the U21s.
“The challenge with the seniors is a greater one but Steve’s experience of working with elite players and coaches at Chelsea means he knows what a world-class team needs to look like.”
