“The power rankings team includes plenty of Chelsea stars and a duo from Liverpool”
Sky Sports have announced their power rankings team of the season based on the best performances by position – although they have fielded a midfield five consisting of playmakers and wingers and a dubious back three.
The team may look like something Garth Crooks would come up with but it is based on cold, hard facts.
For the power rankings, every player’s performances are assessed by a complex system which analyses 32 different matchday stats.
Each position on the field is awarded a different number of points for different achievements.
A higher weighting is given to more recent games, with only the previous five games taken into account.
