Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is backing his former side to maintain their fine form and win the Premier League come the end of the season.
The Blues currently sit top of the table after embarking on a 11-match winning spell that has seen them go from title hopefuls to favourites – in only three months.
Having now matched their club record for consecutive wins, Antonio Conte’s team can make history with victory at home to Bournemouth on Boxing Day and will then turn their attentions to the Premier League record of 14 straight wins.
Currently six points clear, Chelsea are seen as big favourites to win the title, especially as history shows that every time they have topped the table over Christmas, they have gone on to be crowned champions come the end of the season.
When asked for his thoughts on the team’s title chances, Lampard heaped praise on Chelsea’s response following back-to-back league defeats in September and conceded that he felt they were strong favourites.
The 38-year-old told Sky Sports (as quoted by the Mail): “As a Chelsea man it is great to see, all credit to everybody there. The manager obviously changed the system after a defeat at Arsenal.
2-0, 3-0, 4-0, 2-0, 5-0, 1-0, 2-1, 3-1, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0.

“Nobody would have fancied them to be anywhere near winning the league at that point and now they look the dominant team.
“I don’t like to tempt fate but I can’t see anyone who has got the consistency to close the gap, so I fancy Chelsea strongly now.
“City are in a decent position. And there are teams with quality for sure – City, I think Liverpool are very good to watch this year, and Arsenal.
