The Daily Mirror say Antonio Conte is keeping an eye on the winger as he looks to add depth to his squad.
Laxalt’s agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito claimed last week Conte was a big fan and Chelsea’s interest now appears to be stepping up ahead of the window opening on January 1.
“He’d love to take Laxalt to Chelsea now”
D’Ippolito said: “There are many clubs that have been scouting him.
“Fiorentina have been watching him for very long time, they also wanted to sign him last summer, but there are requests also from the Premier League.
“Conte had been scouting Laxalt when he was in Italy and he’d love to take Laxalt to Chelsea now.”
Genoa are thought to be prepared to cash in on the left midfielder – as long as the price is right.
Chelsea have had a mixed fortunes with wingers arriving from Italy in recent times.
Juan Cuadrado and Mohamed Salah both failed to cut the mustard in England before heading back to Serie A on loan shortly after signing.
