The talented younger defender is currently on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.
And the Mirror claim the 20-year-old was keen to remain at the German outfit.
“Andreas Christensen looks set to remain a Chelsea player”
However, it’s suggested any permanent deal depended on the Blues buying Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci.
That move now looks dead in the water after the Italian international committed his future to the Old Lady.
Bonucci, 29, will remain at the club until 2021 having already racked up 291 appearances for the Serie A champions.
Christensen is in the second year of his two-year loan spell with Gladbach.
He’s been linked with a January switch back to Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte looks to reinforce his back line.
But Christensen is focussed on his loan with the Bundesliga club and isn’t expected to return to Stamford Bridge anytime soon.
Speaking last month, he said: “We aren’t in talks with Chelsea. I’m staying at Borussia.”
