Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to bankroll a January bid for PSG midfielder Marco Verratti.

The Daily Mail says Abramovich is prepared to loosen his purse strings when the transfer window opens next month to help Antonio Conte continue their push for the title.

They claim Verratti, who played under Conte for Italy, is wanted at Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old is tied to PSG until 2021 but Chelsea are said to be confident they can land their man for less than £40m.

Donato Di Campli, Veratti’s agent, revealed in October that his client could soon seek a move away from the French capital in search of silverware. He said: “Contracts are made and unmade in three minutes. We’ll see PSG‘s aims.”
