That’s the opinion of Blues hero Ashley Cole who watched his former side beat Crystal Palace 1-0 earlier today.
Costa was the difference as his headed effort sent Antonio Conte’s side nine points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table.
Cole told Sky Sports: “I don’t think you want to rough him up too much because you don’t want to get him too angry because that’s when he gets into that ‘beast mode’.
“He seems sharper and fitter and I think if Chelsea want to win the league they need to keep him fit”
Chelsea hero Ashley Cole
“I don’t think there is a better centre forward around at the moment.”
When asked what he thought of Hazard’s form now compared to two seasons ago Cole was in no doubt that he is back to his best.
He added: “I think probably the same. I think when I first came here and he won Player of the Season he was unbelievable.
“Then of course last season I don’t know what happened, if he wasn’t happy.
“His performances dropped but this year he’s come back, he seems sharper and fitter and I think if Chelsea want to win the league they need to keep him fit.”
Costa will not be playing in that match as he picked up his fifth yellow card against Palace and is therefore suspended.
