The Spain international has been in staggering form this season, smashing home 12 goals in 16 Premier League appearances.
And he’ll be hoping to shine once again when Antonio Conte’s team visit London rivals Crystal Palace tomorrow.
“If Diego Costa carries on this form he will romp to the Player of the Year award.”
Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton praises Stamford Bridge star Diego Costa
Costa performances have been integral to raising hopes that the title could be on its way back to Stamford Bridge come May.
And Sutton believes he could be on course for an accolade of his own should he continue to impress.
Writing for the Daily Mail, the former Chelsea hitman said: “Alexis Sanchez may run him close but I have been so impressed with how Diego Costa has led the line for Chelsea.
“He has his head screwed on the right way this season — he even played the peacemaker during the fracas at Manchester City.
“He is scoring goals, bringing others into play and if he carries on this form he will romp to the Player of the Year award.”
