But the 24-year-old had experienced ace Petr Cech battling him for the No.1 jersey during his first season back in London.
And Courtois claims his jockeying with Cech for a starting spot distracted attention from his good performances.
“I think the first season I played very well too but with Petr around, I think people noticed it less.
“I had a lot of games where I made a lot of important saves, but it went a bit unnoticed.”
