Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has gone on to defend Diego Costa after the striker enjoyed a bottle of beer following the encounter against West Bromwich Albion on the weekend.

Costa scored the crucial winner in Chelsea‘s hard fought 1-0 victory over Albion on Sunday and following the game, a video emerged of the Spaniard enjoying a beer in the Stamford Bridge dressing room.

Many were surprised that Costa was allowed to consume the beverage right after the match had concluded but Conte has gone on to defend his star striker by stating that drinking a bottle of beer is actually good for recovery as it helps in rehydration.

Conte explained: “After the game, for rehydration, you can drink Coca-Cola, one beer.

“It’s good for recovery. But one. Not a lot. It’s good. After you finish the game, quickly, not an hour after the end.”
