John Terry is set to see his playing career at Chelsea ended at the culmination of the season.

According to The Times, Chelsea chiefs have informed the 36-year-old that he will not be offered a new contract for 2017/18.

Terry was close to finishing up at Stamford Bridge last summer but was offered a one-year deal by the West London club to go around again.

However, it is understood that this will be his final season in a Blues shirt with an ambassadorial or coaching role a likely possibility.

Terry has no interest in leaving Chelsea in January, even though he is expected to be a bit-part player under Antonio Conte, as he is keen to remain part of the squad that is moving nicely towards a fifth Premier League title (and sixth overall in the top flight).

The veteran centre-back, who has not started in the league since September due to injury, could be open to a non-playing role with Chelsea rather than playing on in China or for a MLS club.
