Ruud Gullit plays for Holland verus Belarus in HollandGETTY

Chelsea starlet Nathan Ake has been compared to fellow Dutchman Ruud Gullit

But the on-loan defender admits he may have to wait before he’s handed a chance to shine by Antonio Conte.

The 21-year-old joined Bournemouth on a season-long deal this summer having spent last term at Watford.

And, after enduring a slow start to life at the Vitality Stadium, he has now established himself in Eddie Howe’s team.

Chelsea defender Nathan Ake says he wants to focus on his own game after comparisons to Ruud Gullit

Ake has drawn comparisons to compatriot Ruud Gullit.

However, the Holland Under-21 international seems focussed on developing his own game and says he is not mimicking the former Chelsea star as he seeks to forge a career in west London.

“I know of Ruud Gullit but not much. I am not the new Ruud Gullit,” Ake told The Sun.

“As for the hair I didn’t do it because of him. When I was young, I had short hair and dad used to do it every morning.

“When I went abroad and he couldn’t do it, he just said make dreads.

“Every player wants to play for the team they are at but Chelsea is a big club and, at my age, it’s difficult to break through.”

In the wake of last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Burnley, Ake will be hoping he retains his place in Howe’s starting XI when Bournemouth play host to Leicester tonight.
