That’s the verdict of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp who saw his side drop two points after drawing 2-2 with West Ham at Anfield.

Chelsea made it nine wins on the bounce after Diego Costa struck to help them see off a resilient West Brom side.

He said: “It’s difficult to stay in the race with Chelsea when they win every week. We didn’t. The season’s very long.”

Klopp thought Liverpool were the better side against the Hammers but they had to settle for a point.

Adam Lallana gave the Reds the lead before Dimitri Payet equalised from a free-kick.

Michail Antonio then made it 2-1 before Divock Origi rescued a point for the home side.

Klopp added: “For a big part of the game we were much the better team and that’s the important thing.

“We are still on a very good way, but we are not first in the table… A lot of teams should feel worse.”

Liverpool will have a chance to return to winning ways quickly when they travel to Middlesbrough on Wednesday evening.
