Speaking after the Blues’ 2-0 victory at Southampton on Sunday (October 30) one delighted Chelsea fan said Costa’s curled strike in the 55th minute is a contender for goal of the season.
Superfan Dave, who was interviewed by Chelsea Fans Channel, said: “Diego Costa is a top man, I love him. The goal was absolutely fantastic – one of the best Chelsea goals of the season.”
Despite suffering a few humbling defeats in September, such as the 3-0 loss at Arsenal and a frustrating 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool, Chelsea have hit a rich vein of form this month.
And the supporter said he believes his club could claim the Premier League crown this season.
He said: “I don’t like making predictions in case they go wrong but I seriously believe we are going to win the league.”
Dave also reserved high praise for manager Antonio Conte who just a few weeks ago was under pressure from some sections of the Chelsea support.
He added: “All the players love playing for Antonio Conte and you can’t blame them – he his a top guy. He is one of the best managers we have ever had at Chelsea. Lets hope he is with us for a good few years now.”
Chelsea suffered a shock defeat to West Ham in the EFL Cup last week where fighting between fans forced a number of politicians to say the Hammers should play behind close doors.
While pundit Garth Crooks likened Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez to Luis Suarez after an impressive display in the Gunner’s 4-1 victory away to Sunderland.
