Chelsea are said to have lodged a bid of €50m for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, with reports in France claiming that the Uruguayan forward is one of the Blues’ main attacking targets this summer.
Rumourmongers Le10Sport report that the Blues have thrown in the offer of around £41.5m, although the French champions are thought to be ready to demand a fee in excess of £66m for the 29-year-old, having already lost main marksman Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer this summer.
Chelsea have already had a bid of around £63m rejected for Alvaro Morata by Real Madrid, while former Blues player and Everton star Romelu Lukaku is another option – although the Toffees are said to have stuck a whopping £75m price tag on the Belgian in an effort to ward off interest.
Cavani’s agent admitted a couple of months ago that PSG were unlikely to be keen on the idea of letting him go, saying: “I do not think that it is at all possible to quit PSG. After the departure of Ibrahimovic, PSG want to keep their existing squad and reinforce in order to win the Champions League. PSG cannot lose two strikers.”

Newly-returned Real man Morata could also be set to stay put at the Bernabeu, admitting to the club’s website earlier this week: “It is incredible to be here again. It is a dream come true and I can’t wait to get started. I can’t wait for tomorrow to arrive so we can get to work.
“Zidane works hard and does a lot of physical work. I have had two great years at Juventus, I learned a lot and I can only be thankful because without this experience I would not be here.”
