New Chelsea signing N’Golo Kante has said that a speech from Antonio Conte convinced him to swap Leicester for the West London club.
Kante’s £30m move to Stamford Bridge means he is Chelsea’s second signing of the summer after Michy Batshuayi, and the France international explained his reasoning for leaving the Premier League champions to join Conte’s men on Twitter and Instagram.
“At the beginning of the new season, I chose to join @chelseafc,” the midfielder said.
“It is a great club, which has just recruited a great coach and want to reach high ambitions I share. The club’s project and the coach’s speech have convinced me to join this new ambitious adventure.
“I am now waiting to see my new club and give everything for a successful summer… And season of course!!”
The France international also took time to thank Leicester fans in his social media post.
“I want to thank the leaders, my team-mates and Claudio Ranieri for this fantastic season that saw us winning the title of England,” he wrote.
“Their confidence and also the fan’s will forever remain in my memory. And I again thank you all.”
Kante is now expected to join up with his new team-mates before they jet off to America for the International Champions Cup.
The 25-year-old was a much needed addition for the Blues after first-choice defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic’s dip in form.
The former Premier League champions are now expected to go back into the transfer market for at least another central defender.
