Former Chelsea midfielder Ramires has been filmed trying to attack a referee following a strange turn of events which saw him sent off after the final whistle of Jiangsu’s 2-1 loss to Shandong.
It remains unclear what all of this stemmed from, but it’s certainly a bad look for the Brazilian, who left Stamford Bridge for the Chinese Super League club in January.
Ramires had to be held off by his teammates as he aggressively tried to advance towards the official. Amazingly, though, it was the referee who was being restrained at first. After getting loose, he ran up to the midfielder and brandished a red card, which seemed to set off all kinds of things in the player’s head.
It would take a huge struggle to lead him off the field, but he should expect a steep fine and further suspension, given the nature of events.
